HiFi Newsletter - 2011-10

Welcome to Ortofon WEBSHOP

We are very pleased to launch our new factory based webshop. We got into webshop business for several reasons, and mainly because we think we had something special to offer.

Our webshop is a reference webshop. In our Brand extension product line there is a wide range of HiFi accessories and spare parts, that only few dealers carry 100%.  By introducing the webshop we want to offer our customers one place, where they can be sure to find any current Ortofon product on sale.

Ortofon phono cartridges and brand extension products are already found on many stores and webshops worldwide, but very few of them carry the COMPLETE Ortofon product range.

We offer complete range of Ortofon products, the only products missing on our webshop are the Cadenza Series and Exclusive models MC Windfeld and Xpression. That is our opinion that these products are best sold in a specialized retailer shop with trained and qualified staff that can provide the first-hand service to the customer.

Also we think it will be a good thing bringing our staff closer to our end-users. Prompt service and direct customer support are necessary for webshop and can be used in all our business processes. We want our company to operate at a greater level  and we want to create opportunities for ourselves and for our customers.

Ortofon new Interconnect cables

The best of the Reference series, the new Ortofon Reference 7NX-705 interconnect cable is made of the three strands of the ultra pure copper, 7N OFC, OFC wires. It has a gold plated XLR terminal and a rhodium plated RCA terminal. Those terminals are so designed that they do not touch each other even at the tight space at the back of the amplifier.

The new Ortofon Reference 6NX-605 RCA plug cable presents dynamic sound with the exceptional tonal quality and resolution.

    2M MONO questionnaire

    Ortofon 2M series logo

If you have mono records in your collection, then a mono cartridge is the best way to play them!

In Ortofon we constantly strive to extend the range of our products. We realize that innovation can arise from outside by interaction with our valued customers. In the nearest future we plan to introduce 2M Mono cartridge as an extention of our current 2M Series product line. A survey can provide us with valuable input. What are your perceptions of the Mono cartridge? We are listening to the voice of our customers and therefore we kindly like to ask you to fill out the 2M MONO questionnaire, that will only take few minutes to answer.

We really value your opinion and looking forward to receive your insights. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment!

    Recent reviews

Tony Bolton relives his favourite monophonic musical moments with Ortofon’s Cadenza Mono (Hi-Fi World May 2011): "Solid, dynamic and spacious sound... the Cadenza Mono seemed unperturbed by musical genre, and tracked virtually perfectly through the most worn and damaged records... The Cadenza Mono will have a distinctively warm and easy sound but it will also come over as smooth and cohesive. It measures well and will give excellent mono."

    Vivo Red

MC Vivo Red was recently reviewed by the Danish Audio Magazine, August 2011: "...The sound is relaxed, homogeneous and free of resonant phenomena. The sound is never aggressive or annoying, and one must describe the style of play as disciplined and a bit subdued... Vivo Red is a good "entry" choice for pop and rock music, and the more simple genres of classical music..."

Tony Bolton is rather touched by Ortofon's budget MC cartridge, the Vivo Blue (Hi-Fi World June 2011):  "Very enjoyable... I was impressed with the way it tracked older records, missing the surface noise potential in favour of focusing on the music in the grooves... I found the sound refreshingly easy to listen to, with no fatigue inducing shrieks or shouting. It’s a very creditable product that has the Ortofon family good manners and performs that bit better than most of its competitors."

    eQ-5 earphones

Ortofon eQ-5 earphones were recently testet by Dalibor Beric & Sedin Mujic, German Stereoplay, November 2011 and the verdict is: "...Bright and highly differentiated without neglecting the foundation in the bass unquote..." A total of 68 points giving Ortofon eQ-5 a shared 3rd place out of 22 products tested.

TA-110 was reviewed by Korean Monthly Audio Magazine, September edition: "TA-110 is the newest tone arm, which is built upon the Ortofon's integrated approach and technological knowhow. Owing to effectively controlled resonance, the TA-110 produces a cheerful and silky sound as well as outstanding acoustic details. Its modern design is characterised by the generality, which matches the vintage turn tables as well as other audio products.”
